Swindon Tennis Club

Swindon Tennis Club is moving to St Marks Recereation Ground in Swindon. The club originated from the former GWR Tennis Club which had run Tennis teams and competitions since the 1930's.

The Club has access to 11 outside hard courts (with plans for at least 3 to be floodlit).

The current membership stands at 118 (71 adults and 47 juniors). The 2007 season saw 6 of our teams promoted, with 5 winning their league titles in the Swindon and District Summer League.

Players of all ages and abilities are welcome. Why not come along and join in!

In December 2008 Swindon Tennis Club achieved Tennis Clubmark accreditation - one of just six clubs in Wiltshire.

Tennis in the park at St Marks Recreation Ground

Swindon Tennis Club (STC) and Swindon Borough Council have come together to improve the provision of tennis and the facilities at St Mark's Recreation Ground.

The Vision

We aim to provie affordable and accessible tennis for all combined with good off court facilities and a friendly welcoming atmosphere.

The Plan

Starting from April 2010, Swindon Tennis Club in conjunction with Delta Tennis Centre will be operating the facilities at St Marks.

The partnership have a three year plan to introduce the following:

Pay and play access to the courts - initially evening and weekends before progressing to every day
Court bookings made through Delta Tennis Centre
Organised adult tennis sessions open to all on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings
Organised childrens sessions on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons
A shelter for inclement weather and for socialising
A cafe facility providing hot and cold drinks, refreshments, snacks and ice cream for all park users
Coaching sessions with no membership fee, bookable through Delta Tennis Centre
Installation of flood lighting
Development of a new, purpose built club house and cafe.

Join us this Easter to burn off the chocolate at our Grand Launch! This includes free turn-up and play taster sessions and a family Easter egg hunt in the park.
