The 2025 Summer Doubles League starts on 28th April and finishes on 31st August.
To play in the doubles league you must have Club Pass Individual membership at £18/month and your LTA Advantage account is linked to the Swindon Tennis Centre venue.
TeamsTeams are grouped by Men's, Ladies and Mixed. Each group has multiple teams for a range of players from novice to advanced. You can decide to play in just Men's/Ladies or Mixed, or you can play in both. Player's are placed in a team based on their ability.
ScheduleAll matches are played in the evening on week days. Matches start at 6:30pm and finish before 10pm. Men's matches are on Monday, Ladies matches are on Tuesday and, Mixed matches are on Thursday.
VenuesHome matches are played at St Marks. Away matches are played at venues around the Swindon area. Pewsey being the furthest. Car sharing is available for away matches, if required.
JoiningPlayers are added to a team WhatsApp group headed by the team captain. In the WhatsApp group the team captain will publish match dates and ask players for their availability. You can play as many or as few matches as you want.
MatchesEach match has four players (two pairs). A match finishes when 8 sets have been completed. 4 sets per pair. The winner is the team that wins 5 or more sets.
TrainingFor those new to doubles, coaching is available on request from National Tennis Association.
I'm interested
If you're interested in taking part, the best thing to do is attend one of our weekly club recreation sessions, which is held on a Wednesday evening 7pm-9pm. A number of our captains attend this session as well as a number of league players. We can then assess your level and allocate you to the most appropriate team.
If you're unable to attend this session, but would still like to be considered, please send an email to stc@swindontennisclub.org and one of our committee will be able to discuss next steps.
